Carl Hittinger coauthored an article for the University of Maryland School of Law Journal of Business and Technology Law, entitled "The Diminishing Role of the Private Attorney General in Antitrust and Securities Class Action Cases Aided by the Supreme Court." He examines the role of the private attorney general in antitrust lawsuits, outlining what the private attorney general is, how it developed in the securities and antitrust class action arena, and its role in the context of the federal securities laws. Hittinger then looks at a subject case, Stonebridge, and concludes with a description of the Supreme Court's refinement of the private attorney general model in securities and antitrust cases in particular.
