HEADLINES
- House Republicans are desperate to elect a new speaker, with the chamber remaining in turmoil entering the fourth week since Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., was voted out of the position.
- As Israel prepares a ground invasion against Hamas, Washington is working to protect hostages and prevent a broader war, while also preparing a package of military and humanitarian aid.
- President Joe Biden will host Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at the White House.
HOUSE
- Republican candidates for speaker will make their case to colleagues tonight, with votes this week in conference and on the House floor to follow.
- The House Oversight Committee tomorrow will hold an oversight hearing with Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Danny Werfel.
- Also tomorrow, the Foreign Affairs Committee will hold a hearing titled “Friend and Ally: U.S. Support for Israel After Hamas’ Barbaric Attack.”

SENATE
- The Senate will be in session tomorrow through Friday, voting on Biden’s judicial nominees and possibly beginning consideration of a package of funding for Israel, Ukraine, and border security.
- The Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday will take up the nomination of Jack Lew to be ambassador to Israel.
- The Energy and Natural Resources Committee on Thursday will hold a hearing on offshore energy policy.

WHITE HOUSE
- Biden will begin his week with a White House event this afternoon highlighting his “Bidenomics” agenda.
- Tomorrow, he will award the National Medal of Science and National Medal of Technology and Innovation.
- Wednesday, Biden will host an Official Visit from Albanese, including a state dinner.
