Congress returns from its Easter recess as the U.S. and Iran are in a showdown over the Strait of Hormuz that threatens to unravel a fragile ceasefire agreement.

President Donald Trump will host the king and the queen of the Netherlands and travel to Nevada and Arizona.

Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will appear before two House committees for hearings.

The House will hold floor <a href="https://www.majorityleader.gov/schedule/weekly-schedule.htm">votes</a> tomorrow through Friday, including an <a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/8035" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">extension</a> of Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act authorities.

Kennedy will appear Thursday separately before the <a href="https://waysandmeans.house.gov/event/full-committee-hearing-with-health-and-human-services-secretary-robert-f-kennedy-jr/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ways and Means Committee</a> and the <a href="https://appropriations.house.gov/schedule/hearings/budget-hearing-department-health-and-human-services" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies</a>.

Also Thursday, the Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies will <a href="https://appropriations.house.gov/schedule/hearings/budget-hearing-office-united-states-trade-representative" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">host</a> U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.

The Senate will return tonight with <a href="https://www.senate.gov/legislative/floor_activity_pail.htm" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">votes</a> on Trump’s judicial nominees.

The Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee will hold an oversight <a href="https://www.commerce.senate.gov/meetings/oversight-of-the-federal-trade-commission-04-15-2026/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">hearing</a> Wednesday with the Federal Trade Commission.

Also Wednesday, the Finance Committee will hold a <a href="https://www.finance.senate.gov/hearings/the-presidents-fiscal-year-2027-irs-budget-and-the-irs-2026-filing-season" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">hearing</a> with Internal Revenue Service CEO Frank Bisignano.

A U.S. blockade of the Strait of Hormuz was set to <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/iran-war-live-trump-says-us-begin-naval-blockade-irans-ports-strait-hormuz-2026-04-13/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">begin</a> this morning.

Tonight, Trump will <a href="https://www.royal-house.nl/latest/news/2026/04/03/king-willem-alexander-and-queen-maxima-to-pay-working-visit-to-pennsylvania-washington-dc-and-florida-programme" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">host</a> King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands.

Thursday, he will <a href="https://thenevadaindependent.com/article/trump-to-visit-nevada-next-week-tout-no-tax-on-tips-policy" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">travel</a> to Nevada to promote his administration’s tax policies, before <a href="https://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/president-donald-trump-visit-phoenix-april-turning-point-usa-event" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">speaking</a> Friday at an event in Phoenix hosted by Turning Point USA.
