About Lutzko’s practice
As U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, Lutzko supervised the investigation and prosecution of federal crimes in the district, including those involving health care fraud; securities, tax and other financial and corporate white collar crimes; government program fraud; public corruption; cybercrimes; human trafficking; civil rights violations; improper prescribing of controlled substances; terrorism; and workplace health and safety crimes. On the civil side, she supervised defensive litigation against the United States, oversaw affirmative civil investigations and authorized resulting civil litigation, including claims asserting violations of the False Claims Act, the Controlled Substances Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act and other civil rights and environmental statutes.
During her tenure as appellate chief, Lutzko oversaw all USAO litigation in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit. During that time, the office filed about 900 merits briefs, several hundred motions to dismiss appeals on procedural grounds and responses to defendants’ post-conviction petition authorization requests.
Before entering public service, Lutzko was an associate at BakerHostetler for seven years. There, she represented media, corporate and other clients in a broad array of federal and state litigation, such as First Amendment claims, intellectual property issues, employment matters, construction litigation, business disputes and product liability claims.
Lutzko received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and her B.A. from Boston University.
