Overview

As a dedicated and well-rounded attorney, Brittany Yantis’ practice spans litigation, transactions and regulatory enforcement. She has advised clients on issues related to discovery management processes, data privacy, artificial intelligence, records and information governance, and technology application.

Brittany is a member of the Emerging Technology team of BakerHostetler’s Digital Assets and Data Management Group. Her work focuses on litigation, privacy and data protection, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. She holds CIPP/US data privacy professional credentials.

  • Represents corporate clients in a variety of complex commercial and data privacy litigation matters in state and federal courts.
  • Assists organizations in developing, implementing and maintaining privacy programs and compliance with state and federal privacy legislations, including the California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).
  • Advises clients on building artificial intelligence (AI) compliance programs and policies and new AI laws, including New York City’s Automated Employment Decision Tools Law.
  • Counsels numerous clients on information governance practices and strategy and related compliance issues, including developing and implementing record retention policies, litigation holds and related policies and materials.
  • Works directly with in-house counsel to draft and negotiate vendor agreements, including privacy-related contractual clauses and data protection/data processing agreements regarding the handling of personal data.
  • Works on a variety of litigation matters in connection with BakerHostetler’s role as counsel to Trustee Irving H. Picard for the SIPA liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC.
  • Advised the legal department of a multinational finance and insurance corporation with regulatory requirements, including obligations regarding data transfers and litigation holds, related to a divestiture.
  • Managed complex document discovery for a client involved in both state and federal litigation. Drafted and updated various document review protocols and provided advice on discovery-related issues.
  • Assisted with discovery management and strategy, focusing on privilege issues, for a healthcare company involved in multidistrict federal litigation and multistate attorneys general investigation.
  • Drafted articles focused on social media and related ethical considerations.
