Much like BakerHostetler’s <a href="https://www.bakerlaw.com/DigitalAssetsDataManagement" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Digital Assets and Data Management Practice Group</a>, <a href="https://www.bakerlaw.com/IncuBakerEmergingTechnologies" target="_blank" rel="noopener">IncuBaker</a> is a first-of-its-kind legal technology and consulting research and development team, intentionally conceived to help lawyers navigate the intersection of digital business, emerging technology and the law.

IncuBaker’s innovation and success over the past three years has been widely recognized — most recently by the International Legal Technology Association, which, on April 13, announced that IncuBaker had won three Distinguished Peer Awards and a special recognition. The Distinguished Peer Awards, launched in 2010, honor the achievements of those who leverage the strategic advantages of technology in the legal profession.

IncuBaker team members serve corporate legal departments across every industry to support their digital transformation, privacy management and data-driven initiatives. Some of the team’s work includes instituting a global privacy program to help an energy client mitigate risk and accelerate compliance, and doing so in only nine months.

IncuBaker is supporting BakerHostetler attorneys in all facets of client work related to technology, including the firm’s key representation of health care clients in website tracking litigation across the U.S., corporate initiatives related to artificial intelligence technology, and assistance with analytics for the DADM Practice Group’s annual Data Security Incident Response Report, which will be released at the end of April.

Most recently, IncuBaker and its leader, <a href="https://www.bakerlaw.com/katherinelowry" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Katherine Lowry</a> — the firm’s newly appointed chief information officer — were recognized by The Financial Times for their commitment to excellence and working with clients to help them achieve digital transformations by fully leveraging technology with the understanding that these solutions are going to augment, not replace, the practice of law.

With nearly $4 million in direct consulting revenue since its launch, IncuBaker has a growing revenue stream. In 2022, IncuBaker boasted 57 clients and worked on more than 69 matters, which is a clear indication that clients are repeatedly seeking the services of their legal technologists.
