HEADLINES
- Both chambers of Congress are in session for the first time in six weeks, facing an end-of-month deadline to fund the government.
- Both the House and Senate will take up fiscal 2024 appropriations legislation, aiming for leverage in negotiations to prevent a government shutdown at the end of the month.
- President Joe Biden is returning from his foreign trip for last week’s G20 summit in India.
HOUSE
- The House will be in session tonight through Thursday, voting on Department of Defense appropriations.
- On Wednesday, the House Financial Services Committee will hold an oversight hearing on the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States.
- Thursday, the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee will hold a hearing on drug shortages.

SENATE
- The Senate will be in session throughout the week, taking up three different appropriations bills.
- The Senate Banking Committee tomorrow will hold an oversight hearing with Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Gary Gensler.
- A Senate initiative to regulate artificial intelligence will also highlight the week, with hearings in the Judiciary, Commerce, and Homeland Security Committees, and a closed briefing for senators with technology executives.

WHITE HOUSE
- Biden this morning left Vietnam, wrapping up his trip to the G20.
- Later today, Biden will visit Alaska and commemorate 9/11 with military service members.
- On Wednesday, Biden will hold a cabinet meeting and attend a campaign event in Mclean, Virginia.
