Ben Wanger advises public and private companies and other entities across a variety of industries in responding to large-scale ransomware incidents, network intrusions and other cybersecurity and data privacy incidents, providing clear strategic guidance in moments of crisis and translating technical findings into practical, actionable legal advice. Ben also works closely with clients to proactively assess and mitigate cyber risk and develop privacy and information security policies.

As soon as clients discover a data security incident, Ben works with them to assess the scope, assemble the necessary internal and external response teams, implement a containment and remediation strategy, conduct an investigation, develop messaging, evaluate regulatory obligations and respond to consumer and regulatory inquiries in a way that is designed to preserve customer relationships and minimize regulatory and litigation risk.

Ben has represented organizations of all types and sizes in data privacy matters. In particular, he has significant experience helping educational institutions develop data breach prevention and response protocol and respond to data security incidents. Ben is the co-leader of BakerHostetler’s multidisciplinary industry group serving educational institutions and he regularly advises educational institutions on cybersecurity and privacy issues and assists them in navigating the requirements of the Department of Education and other regulatory bodies. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional in the U.S. (CIPP/US).
