Our summer program lasts nine&nbsp;weeks, beginning at the end of May and ending in early August. The program commences with orientation, which includes an office tour, overviews of the practices, training and information on mentors and gatekeepers. Weekly events and activities are scheduled to allow a more relaxed interaction with our attorneys. Such activities may include a golf outing, baseball game, food trucks, happy hours, bowling, community service, dinners at associates’ and/or partners’ homes, and more.

"Even as a summer associate I felt like I was part of a very close-knit team. It seemed like there was a conscious effort to assign me projects that I was interested in, and there was never a day that went by when I didn’t feel completely supported by the team. I think this is especially important when viewed in light of what was going on during the summer of 2020. The program had to be shortened and moved online and essentially completely changed compared to how it’s normally run. Other Relevant Information 

This program is primarily for 2L students. Each summer associate is assigned an associate mentor as well as a partner mentor. Gatekeepers or work coordinators assist in maintaining workflow. The recruiting coordinator assists in all aspects of the summer associates’ experience in our office as well as communication before, throughout and after the program.

Each summer associate rotates among two or three practice groups, depending on expressed interest, in order to gain as much experience in our office as possible. Rotations also allow for more interaction with attorneys in different practice groups.

Evaluations are conducted at the end of the program for formal feedback.

We welcome all undergraduate degrees. However, if you are specifically interested in intellectual property, we prefer undergraduate majors in biotechnology, chemistry, physics, computer science, mechanical engineering and/or related fields because of the technical nature of the practice.
