At BakerHostetler, our well-rounded summer program offers students with the training, experience, and confidence necessary to begin the journey to become great lawyers who will enjoy their colleagues and their work.

Our Chicago office is excited to be hosting its inaugural summer associate program in 2026. The program will be 10 weeks long, starting in May and concluding by the end of July. During this time, students will participate in firmwide and local trainings where they will learn important skills essential to be a successful attorney.&nbsp;

The projects are real work assignments, identical to those that would be given to associates and are not limited to any type of work or practice area.&nbsp; Summer associates throughout the firm have completed the following projects in previous years:

Each summer associate is assigned a partner and an associate to mentor them throughout the summer program. The purpose of the mentorship pairing is to provide someone for the summer associates to learn from over the summer. Mentors supervise work assignments and answer any questions that may come up. They also provide insight to the firm as well as hands-on guidance on how to succeed as a summer associate.

These events enable summer associates and attorneys to get to know one another socially in a relaxed atmosphere.
