Seattle Summer Program

The Seattle summer associate program is designed to give first- and second-year law students a realistic view of what it is like to practice law at BakerHostetler. Summer associates can expect that they will be doing real work for real clients, at a level similar to that of our junior associates. By the end of the summer, our summer associates will have an excellent idea of what practicing law at BakerHostetler is all about.

Our summer program typically lasts 10 weeks, beginning in May and ending in July. Throughout the summer, we offer legal training sessions and seminars, which provide summer associates excellent learning opportunities. Recent training sessions have included Practice Group Overviews, Legal Writing, Negotiation and Mediation Skills, Inclusion and Diversity, Pro Bono, Timekeeping, Respectful Workplace Training, and Law Firm Economics & the Business of Law.

Social events and activities are scheduled to allow a more relaxed interaction with our attorneys. Such activities may include a sporting event, city tour, boat cruise, Space Needle visit, dinner featuring PNW cuisine, team-building activity, community service event, food/wine tour, cookout at a partner’s home, and more.

Areas of Interest

  • Litigation

We welcome all undergraduate degrees. However, if you are specifically interested in intellectual property, we prefer undergraduate majors in biotechnology, chemistry, physics, computer science, mechanical engineering and/or related fields because of the technical nature of the practice.

At BakerHostetler, our well-rounded summer program is designed to provide students with the training, experience, and confidence necessary to begin the journey to become great lawyers who will enjoy their colleagues and their work.
